Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 386
For God's sake, sit but little in the company of the cloak-wearers;
hide not your face away from the ragged, disordered rogues.
Within this cloak there dwells a deep defilement, layer on layer;
O happy the season of the tunic of those who sell the wine!
In these Sufi-seeming ones I could find no dreg of truth;
may the pure delight of the dreg-drinkers be limpid and clear!
You are of a delicate nature, and cannot bear at all
the leaden heaviness of a handful of cloak-wearing men.
Since you have made me drunk, sit not hidden behind the veil;
since you have given me nectar, give me no poison to drink.
Come, and behold, from the fraud of these players of the cant,
the flagon brimful of the heart's blood, and the barbat crying aloud.
Beware the smouldering ardour of Hafez, and take good heed,
for within his breast he bears a cauldron seething at the boil.
