← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 385

O Lord, restore that musk-sweet gazelle again to Khotan;
and bring that straight and swaying cypress back to the meadow once more.
Caress with a breeze our heart, so cruelly wounded and bruised;
that is, restore that soul, fled from the body, back to the body again.
When the moon and the sun by your command attain their appointed station,
restore to me also my moon-faced Friend, brought back to me once more.
The eyes have turned to very blood in seeking the Yemeni ruby;
O Lord, restore that shining star to its Yemen once again.
Go, O fortunate bird of blessed and auspicious traces,
carry the tale of the crow and the kite before the Anqa's throne.
The word is this: that without you we wish for no life at all;
hear it, O tidings-bearing courier, and carry the word back home.
That one whose dwelling-place was once the very eye of Hafez, O Lord,
restore, to his heart's desire, from exile to his homeland again.
