← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 336

Where is the tiding of your union, that I may rise up from my soul?
I am the bird of holiness, and from the world's snare I will rise.
By your dominion — if you should call me your very own slave,
I will rise above the lordship of both being and place.
O Lord, from the cloud of guidance send a rain upon me,
before, like a mote of dust, I rise and vanish from the midst.
Sit at my graveside with wine and with minstrel,
that at your fragrance, dancing, I may rise from the tomb.
Arise, show forth your stature, O idol of sweet motions,
that from soul and world, with clapping hands, I may rise.
Though I am old, clasp me one night close in your embrace,
that at dawn from your side I may rise up young again.
On the day of my death grant me one breath's respite of your sight,
that, like Hafez, I may rise up from both soul and world.
