← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 293

At dawn, when from the secret hall of Creation's palace
the candle of the East casts wide its ray on every side,
The sphere draws forth a mirror from the horizon's fold, and there
displays the face of the world in a thousand shifting forms;
In the recesses of the joy-hall of the sky's own Jamshid
Venus tunes her organ to the melody of the sama',
The harp breaks into clamour — 'Where has the denier fled?'
The cup breaks into laughter — 'Where has the forbidder gone?'
Regard how the age turns; take up the goblet of delight,
for in every turn of things, this is the fairest state.
The tresses of the world's fair witness are all snare and guile;
the knowers of God will pick no quarrel over that thread.
Seek a Khosrow's length of days, if you would bless the world,
for here is a being bountiful, munificent, profuse —
The dawning of eternal grace, the light of the eye of hope,
joiner of learning and of deed, the soul of the world, Shah Shuja.
