← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 261

Come in, that into the weary heart new strength may pour again;
come, that into the lifeless body the soul may pour again.
Come—your parting so sealed my eye that nothing can unseal it
save the opening of the door of your union, once again.
The grief that seized the heart's domain like a dark host of Zanj—
let your cheek, with the bright troops of Rum, sweep it away again.
Before the mirror of my heart, all that I hold to it
shows nothing back but the image of your beauty, again.
Even as the night lies pregnant with the day, awaiting you,
I number the stars, to see what the night will bear again.
Come—for the native nightingale of Hafez's mind
sings, at the fragrance of your union's rose-bush, again.
