← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 107

May your beauty be forever on the increase;
may your face stay tulip-hued the whole year long.
The fancy of your love within our head —
with every passing day, may it increase.
Every cypress that comes into the meadow,
in service of your stature, may it bow.
An eye not ravished into rapture by you,
like a pearl of tears, may it drown in blood.
May your eye, for the sake of stealing hearts,
grow manifold in artistry of enchantment.
Wherever there is a heart that grieves for you,
may it be without patience, rest, or stillness.
The stature of all the heart-stealers of the world,
before the alif of your form, be bent like a nun.
Every heart that is empty of love for you,
may it be cast beyond the ring of your union.
Your ruby lip, which is the very soul of Hafez,
may it stay far from the mouths of the base.
