Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 106
May your body never need the physicians' tender care;
may your delicate frame stay untouched by any harm.
The health of all the horizons rests within your health;
let no affliction ever bring your person to pain.
The grace of your form and your spirit springs from your well-being;
let your face not darken, nor your inmost heart grow bleak.
When autumn comes to plunder its way through this garden,
let its road never reach the cypress, straight and tall.
On the carpet where your beauty first unveils its splendour,
let there be no room for the sneers of the sour and ill-eyed.
Whoever looks with the evil eye on your moon-bright face,
let nothing but his own soul be the rue cast on your fire.
Seek your cure in the sugar-scattering verse of Hafez,
that you may never need the physic of rose-water and sweets.
