Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 103
The day we were joined with those we loved — may it be remembered;
remembered be those far-off days — oh, may they be remembered.
My mouth has grown like poison from the bitterness of grief;
that ringing cry, 'Drink deep!' of the merry — may it be remembered.
Though my old friends have set the thought of me aside,
from me a thousand blessings on them — may they be remembered.
I have fallen captive here, in these chains, this calamity;
the labour of those honest souls — oh, may it be remembered.
Though a hundred rivers stream forever in my eye,
the Zende-rud of the garden-tillers — may it be remembered.
The secret of Hafez henceforth will go untold;
alas, the keepers of secrets — oh, may they be remembered.
