Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 102
Last night the wind brought tidings of the beloved gone away;
I too will give my heart to the wind — now come what may.
My case has come to this: I take for my confidant
each dusk the flashing lightning, and each dawn the wind.
Deep in the coils of your tress my heedless, defenceless heart
never once sighed: 'Would the old, familiar home were here.'
Today I learned the worth of the counsel dear ones gave;
O Lord, through You let the soul of our adviser be glad.
My heart bled at the thought of you whenever, in the field,
the wind unfastened the green robe upon the rosebud's breast.
My frail existence had all but slipped from my hands;
at dawn the wind restored my soul with the scent of your presence.
Hafez, your own good nature has brought your longing home;
let every soul be ransom for hearts of noble grain.
