Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 7
Come, Sufi — the cup is a clear and flawless mirror,
that you may behold the purity of the ruby-hued wine.
Ask the secret behind the veil of the drunken rends,
for this station belongs not to the high-ranking ascetic.
The Anqa is no man's quarry — draw back your net,
for there the snare gathers nothing but wind.
At the fleeting feast, drink a cup or two, and go —
that is: do not covet a union that endures.
O heart, youth is gone, and you plucked no rose of joy;
in gray old age, make no craft of honor and renown.
Seize the joy in hand — for when his water ran dry,
Adam let go the garden of the Abode of Peace.
Great is our right of service upon your threshold;
O master, look again, with mercy, on your slave.
Hafez is the disciple of the wine-cup — go, O breeze,
and from this servant bear his service to the Shaikh of Jam.
