Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 406
She said: 'You went abroad to watch the crescent moon —
before my eyebrows' moon, shame on you: begone!'
An age your heart has been of the captives of our tress;
grow not heedless of guarding the cause of your own friends.
Sell not the perfume of your reason for our Indian curl,
for there a thousand musk-pods go for half a grain of barley.
The seed of faith and love, in this old-sown field,
comes clear to light only then, when the reaping-season is.
Cupbearer, bring the wine — that I may tell you a riddle
of the secret of the old-coursing stars and the new moon.
The crescent's shape, at every month's beginning, gives a sign
of Siyamak's diadem and the cap of Zav.
Hafez — the Magian Elder's court is the sanctuary of faith;
read love's whole discourse over him, and hear it from his lips.
