Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 241
O boon-companions, remember your comrade of the night;
remember the claims of my sincere devotion.
In the hour of your gladness, from the sighs and laments of lovers,
at the voice and strain of harp and rebeck, remember us.
When the grace of the wine shines forth in the cupbearer's cheek,
remember the lovers with song and refrain.
When you reach out the hand of hope amid your desire,
remember, in that midst, the covenant of our fellowship.
Though the steed of fortune bear you on, tossing its head,
remember your fellow-travelers as you raise the whip.
You bear not, even for a while, the grief of the faithful;
remember the faithlessness of the turning age.
Out of grace, O dwellers on the high throne of majesty,
remember the face of Hafez and this humble threshold.
