← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 148

When my beloved takes the cup of wine in hand,
the market of the idols falls to sudden ruin.
Each one who saw her eye cried out and said:
'Where is a warden now, to seize the drunk?'
Into the sea I've fallen, like a fish,
that the Friend at last may hook and draw me in.
I've fallen at her foot in plaintive cry;
will it be, at last, that she takes me by the hand?
Glad-hearted is the man who, like Hafez,
lifts up a cup of the wine of the primal 'Am I not?'
