Un presagio da Hafez
Ghazal 63
No one has seen your face, and you have a thousand rivals;
you are still in the bud, and you have a hundred nightingales.
If I have come to your street, it is no such strange thing,
for, like me, in that land there are a thousand strangers.
In love there is no difference between cloister and tavern;
wherever it be, there shines the light of the Beloved's face.
There, where they lend splendour to the affairs of the cell,
are the monastery-bell of the monk and the name of the cross.
What lover was there whose beloved looked not on his state?
O master, there is no pain — else, surely, there is a physician.
Hafez's outcry, all of it, is not in vain, when all is told;
there is here a strange history and a wondrous tale.
