← Fāl-e Hāfez
Un presagio da Hafez

Ghazal 494

O heart, if you climb out of that well of the chin,
wherever you go, you will soon come out regretful.
Take heed, that if you lend an ear to reason's whisper,
like Adam, you will come out of the garden of Ridwan.
It may be the sphere will not take your hand for even a sip,
if you come out thirsty-lipped from the fountain of life.
I yield up my soul, like the dawn, from longing to behold you;
it may be that you come out, like the shining sun.
So much, like the breeze, will I breathe upon you the breath of resolve,
that you come out of the bud, glad and laughing, like the rose.
In the dark night of your parting my soul reached my lip;
it is time that you came out, like the radiant moon.
Along your path I have bound two hundred streams from my eye,
that perhaps you may come out, strolling, like the cypress.
Hafez, take no anxious thought, for that moon-faced Joseph
returns, and you will come out of the hut of sorrows.
